What is
Sustainability?
"Of, relating to or being a method of harvesting or using
a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged."-
Merriam-Webster Dictionary
According to Seafood Business, "sustainability" is defined as seafood farmed
or captured in a way that promotes long-term health of the target resource and
the marine ecosystem; seafood products are taken within the bounds of what the
natural system can replenish.
King & Prince Seafood Sustainability Promise:
We will continue to actively support environmentally sound management of
marine resources as a way to insure that our customers will always have
access to healthy, quality seafood products well into the future. We
advocate for responsible fishery management practices through our active
participation in the National Fisheries Institute and working with our key
suppliers to ensure their adherence to all fishery management regulations. We
support government actions directed at ensuring sustainability of fishery
resources and we encourage the development of alternative sources of fishery
resources and we encourage the development of alternative sources of seafood
supply utilizing environmentally responsible aquaculture methods. We also
support responsible environmental groups like the New England Aquarium that
encourage science based fishery management.
